Job Purpose

Responsible for overall production & operations of the downstream lines with requisite safety management system. To Lead and drive the team for operational excellence in production, product quality, plant reliability and Cost efficiencies to meet the company’s objectives as per the business plans.


Accountabilities & Responsibilities

1. Safety Management System

• Ensure compliance to Highest of Safety Standards and implement rigorous risk management practices for the entire plant to enable incident free operations. Practice 5S across the plant and sustain Safety Culture.


2. Productivity, Reliability, Product Quality

• Foster philosophy of Total Quality Management across functions.

• Achieve line wise Volumes as per ABP and enhance with stretched targets time to time.

• Maintain line’s reliability in collaboration with Maintenance function with predictive and preventive maintenance.

• Optimize the line wise conversion cost by maintaining the major cost drivers

• Adherence to Quality standards as per ABP, Improvement in Quality and Material yields and reduce the rejection & secondary generation

• Process Audit / Quality checks which will enhance quality standards for each process line

• Build credibility in the market by Quality of the product and service on time

• Visit to customer / stakeholders on to understand and act on concerns/grievances

• Aim for Zero complaints from the customers


3. EBIDTA Improvement / Cost Savings.

• Identified the areas for improvement which improves productivity

• Ensure costs are within the budgeted norms

• Monitoring & control of cost drive parameters as per the cost saving matrix – Yield, Utilization, Power, Fuel, Utilities, Zinc , Rolls, Oil & spares with continual improvements to reduce cost of conversion.


4. Inventory Control (WIP)/ along with Operational / Production Deliverables

• To maintain optimum WIP & Leadtime in coordination with SCM for optimum OTIF.


5. Modification/Upgradation & Expansion projects

• Identify improvement opportunities in processes and equipment/technology constraints and revamping for cost effectiveness.


6. Business Excellence

• Encourage innovation & Business Excellence projects thru team participations with practices lean management, 6-Sigma , Kiazen.


7. People and Culture

• Motivate the team towards achieving business goals, Support nurturing of talent, ensure ethical practices.

• Promote AM/NS values of Collaboration, Excellence, Creativity and Dynamism. 8. Sustainability • Participate and drive company sustainability initiatives towards energy savings, Environment, Green Energy.

Skills & Knowledge

Educational Qualifications & Certifications - BE / B.Tech (Mechanical/Metallurgy/ Production)

Post-Graduation in Operation Management

Total Years of Experience a. 18-25 years of experience in relevant industry.

Functional Skills a. Technical Expertise with heading Critical operations for Pickling Line, Cold Rolling Mills & Galvanising line. Operations capability for BAF, ECL & Service Center.

Experience of developing streamlined operations, invigorating businesses, heightening productivity, and enhancing internal controls.

Proven track record of excellence in Plant Operations, Production, Quality and Maintenance.

Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills with Ability to implement change management strategies effectively.

Knowledge of SAP PP/MM/PM Module g. Knowledge of IMS standards h. Knowledge of Quality grades of the products and Quality Standards
