Job OpportunitySeeking an experienced Backend Engineer to lead our Django/DRF-powered Research Information Management System. The successful candidate will own and evolve the system, ensuring high uptime, optimal caching, and efficient query patterns.This role requires strong engineering fundamentals, deep experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, and Channels/WebSockets. The ideal candidate will drive clean API design, versioning, error structures, and schema evolution.Maintain and extend a production-grade Django/DRF API powering profiles, publications, analytics, media, and integrations.Ensure predictable performance, high uptime, optimal caching, and efficient query patterns across all surfaces.Key responsibilities include managing multi-stage environments (local / dev / stage / prod) with env-var and secrets hygiene, overseeing web, worker, beat, and Channels/WebSocket processes with stable static/media pipelines, and implementing secure release flows including migrations, rollbacks, and safe deploy patterns.Additionally, the successful candidate will administer and optimize PostgreSQL (indexing, tuning, migrations, backups, schema evolution), maintain Redis and Celery with careful attention to queue health, worker reliability, and task monitoring, and implement observability: logs, metrics, alerts, performance tracking, and incident response loops.Own and maintain connectors for OpenAlex, Scopus, Clarivate, Google Books, and other scholarly data providers.Operate GenAI/OpenAI enrichment flows, OSync/Importer microservices, and maintain API keys/quotas safely.The ideal candidate will have 3-6+ years operating Django/DRF systems in production, deep experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, and Channels/WebSockets, and a strong understanding of observability, performance tuning, debugging, and API reliability.Required Skills & Experience:Strong foundation in software engineering.Deep experience with backend technologies.Excellent problem-solving skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.What We Offer:Competitive salary and benefits package.Opportunities for professional growth and development.A dynamic and supportive team environment.How to Apply:Submit your resume and cover letter.Available for immediate hire.
