System Operations Director

Job DescriptionThe role of a Technical Operations Lead entails overseeing and guiding a team of technical professionals in a dynamic, 24x7 production environment.Main Responsibilities:Lead and mentor a team of 10+ technical operations engineers to ensure optimal performance and growth.Guide the team in handling critical situations and high-severity incidents with minimal downtime and quick resolution.Manage and resolve L2/L3 technical issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.Handle customer escalations and coordinate with internal stakeholders for prompt resolution.Escalate critical issues through hierarchical channels for swift resolution.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, QA, and infrastructure to drive operational excellence.Monitor systems using industry-standard tools and respond to alerts proactively to prevent potential issues.Guide the team in performing production deployments, patching, and release management to maintain a smooth operational flow.Maintain and troubleshoot On-premise server infrastructure to ensure reliability and uptime.Ensure adherence to operational processes and documentation standards to guarantee consistency and quality.Required Skills & Qualifications:8–12 years of experience in technical operations or system administration with a proven track record of success.Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.Strong Linux administration skills (command-line, scripting, troubleshooting) to drive efficient operations.Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (beyond basic level) to ensure seamless connectivity.Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.) to stay ahead of potential issues.Experience in incident management and root cause analysis to minimize downtime and optimize resolution.Familiarity with ITIL processes and escalation management to drive process improvement.Experience in production deployment and release management to maintain a smooth operational flow.Working knowledge of Hadoop and distributed systems to drive data-driven decision making.Basic knowledge of Docker and Ansible to facilitate automation and efficiency.Excellent communication and coordination skills to drive collaboration and teamwork.Preferred Qualifications:Certifications in Linux (RHCE, LFCS), Networking (CCNA), or ITIL to demonstrate expertise and commitment.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) to drive innovation and scalability.Automation/scripting experience (Shell, Python, Ansible) to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
