Visual Director Job DescriptionThe Visual Director plays a pivotal role in defining and leading the visual identity of games, overseeing the creation and optimization of game art assets to ensure they meet quality, performance, and usability standards.Responsibilities:Art Vision and Direction: Define and own the artistic vision, style guides, and visual identity for games, including concept art, mood boards, key frames, and reference guides.Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage teams of artists, providing feedback, coaching, and performance reviews to drive artistic excellence.Art Production Pipeline Management: Oversee all art production pipelines, scheduling, and task distribution to ensure timely delivery of high-quality assets.Collaboration: Work closely with game designers, engineers, and product managers to align art with game mechanics, user experience, monetization, and performance budgets.Asset Review and Optimization: Review and approve art assets, ensuring they meet quality, consistency, and technical feasibility standards, while also optimizing them for mobile performance.Research and Development: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor visuals, and R&D to bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches to the team.Presentation and Communication: Develop presentation materials to communicate the artistic vision to stakeholders and external partners.Requirements:Education and Experience: A diploma or degree in 2D, video game development, or equivalent training/experience, along with 10+ years of creating game art, minimum 5 years at senior level or above.Portfolio and Skills: A strong portfolio showcasing various game art styles, polished final assets, and concept-to-delivery work, with expertise in Photoshop, 2D and concept art skills, and understanding of fundamental art theory.Leadership and Communication: Excellent communication skills in English, positive influence and leadership skills, ability to motivate and inspire others, and good organization skills.Additional QualitiesAdaptability: Ability to balance aesthetics with performance and usability requirements.Documentation: Proven ability to present clear documentation communicating ideas both within the team and to external clients.Key RequirementsThe ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with a strong understanding of game art principles, technical pipelines, and team management.
