If you are a highly motivated scientist or engineer with a passion for developing cutting-edge materials and enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, we’d love to meet you  Location: Bangalore Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced Polymer Scientist/Organic Chemist. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the synthesis, characterization, and functionalization/derivatization of polymers, polysaccharides, and polyamines. The role requires proficiency in oxidation, etherification, esterification, crosslinking, and the formation of hydrogels and aerogels. You will work independently on projects, optimizing processes, troubleshooting complex issues, and applying cost-effective downstream processing methods. The ability to think critically and innovate in the development of new materials is essential. Key Responsibilities: - Synthesize and modify polymers, polysaccharides, and polyamides using advanced and green chemical processes such as oxidation, etherification, esterification, crosslinking, hydrophobization) - Develop and optimize hydrogels, aerogels, and other polymeric structures for various applications. - Characterize materials through chemical, mechanical, and thermal analyses using techniques such as FTIR, NMR, DSC, TGA, SEM, HPLC, Viscometer etc. - Design and implement strategies for the functionalization of polymers to achieve desired properties (e.g., transparency, opacity, viscosity, hydrophilicity, hydrophobicity, ). - Apply innovative, cost-effective downstream processing methods to ensure scalable manufacturing processes. - Lead troubleshooting efforts to solve technical challenges related to material synthesis, processing, and performance. - Work independently and collaboratively to move projects forward while ensuring alignment with company goals and timelines. - Maintain a high standard of lab safety, documentation, and data management. Qualifications: - PhD in Organic Chemistry, Material Science- Strong technical expertise in polymer science, including experience in derivatization and functionalization of polymers. - Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a dynamic startup team.What We Offer: - A dynamic, collaborative, and entrepreneurial work environment. - Opportunities to work on groundbreaking materials and technologies. - Competitive salary, equity options, and growth potential within the company. - The chance to be part of a high-impact startup transforming the future of materials science. If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of materials science and developing solutions that will shape the future, apply now to join our growing team How to Apply: Please submit your resume, cover letter, and any relevant project portfolios to [shrutikutmutia@bacalt.bio ; pranavnair@bacalt.bio ].
