Real-Time Backend DeveloperAs a skilled backend developer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of real-time communications.We are seeking an experienced professional to design and implement high-performance backend APIs using Django and DRF. You will work closely with our team to create robust and scalable solutions for call quality metrics, observability, tracing, and SLOs.The ideal candidate will have strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP/2, and experience with debugging tools like Wireshark. Telephony domain expertise is also essential, particularly in SIP signaling, RTP/RTCP, call flows, PSTN/VoIP basics, and exposure to Session Border Controllers.In addition to technical skills, we value professionals who possess a mindset of ownership, bias to automate, clear writing, and a product quality bar that prioritizes reliability and latency.Key Responsibilities:Design and develop high-performance backend APIs using Django and DRF.Build and optimize real-time data pipelines for call/quality metrics.Troubleshoot SIP/VoIP issues using packet captures and logs.Containerize workloads with Docker and contribute to CI/CD processes.Model data in PostgreSQL and MongoDB, and tune indexes/queries for optimal performance.Promote best practices in software development, including distributed-systems patterns and fault tolerance.Requirements:Extensive experience with Python and Django, including RESTful APIs, authentication/authorization, background tasks, testing, and performance tuning.Strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP/2, and practical debugging with Wireshark.Telephony domain expertise, including SIP signaling, RTP/RTCP, call flows, PSTN/VoIP basics, and exposure to Session Border Controllers.Cloud & DevOps experience, including working knowledge of Azure/AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.Distributed systems expertise, including microservices, event-driven design, horizontal scaling, and resilience patterns.Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, migrations, backups, and restores.Nice to Have:Kubernetes (Helm), IaC (Terraform/Bicep), metrics/log stacks (Prometheus/Grafana/ELK), and OpenTelemetry.Experience with Microsoft Graph/365 ecosystems, webhooks, or real-time comms SDKs.Practical AI/ML: time-series anomaly detection, clustering, or LLM-powered workflows.Success Profile:30 days: Ship a well-tested Django service with one external integration; add dashboards/alerts for core SLOs.60 days: Deliver an automated SIP call-flow parser or PCAP insights tool; reduce a p99 latency or error budget hot spot.90 days: Lead a small initiative end-to-end (design deploy postmortem), document runbooks, and mentor a junior dev.
