As an Android Developer, you will have a direct impact on what we build and how we build it. Your focus will be on building Wayo’s product, which helps

people get the best delivery experience.


Our app is in Kotlin following the design pattern MVVM + Clean Architecture principles and is modularised by product features. We use Coroutines heavily, Jetpack libraries( Room, WorkManager, Compose), Retrofit and Dagger2 or Dagger Hilt for dependency injection.


You’ll be

● Helping us figure out the best direction for our product.

● Maintaining existing and adding additional functionality to our Android app.

● Solving technical challenges.

● Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to build new features, optimize existing code, and integrate with third-party services.

● Working in cross-functional teams on varied projects.


Must-Have:

● 2+ years experience in a relevant role

● Familiarity with Jetcompose, Kotlin, Android SDK, and the ecosystem

● Familiarity with Material Design guidelines, common mobile UX patterns, and anti-patterns

● Experience with common Android libraries like Retrofit, OkHttp, Glide, Coroutines, Gson, Arch-components, etc.

● Proficiency in object-oriented programming and multi-threading

● Understanding of different architectural patterns (especially MVVM) and their testability

● Understanding of Services (Foreground and background ) and their limitations on different Android Versions

● Proficiency at debugging - including identifying memory leaks, performance bottlenecks, and using tools like ADB,Proguard, etc.

● Highly accountable and takes ownership, with collaborative attitude, and a lifelong learner.


Good to Have:

● Experience working on one or more Android apps, with apps published to the Play Store

● Understanding of advanced Android concepts like Custom Views, Accessibility Services, background processing APIs

● Experience writing unit tests for Android applications
