Unlock the Power of Search EngineeringJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Search Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our cutting-edge search platform. As a Search Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced search features using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.You will work closely with our data engineers and product teams to deliver high-quality search experiences that meet the complex needs of our users. Your expertise in search concepts, including analysers, tokenisers, relevance tuning, custom scoring, and query DSL, will be essential in architecting and developing our search solutions.In addition to your technical skills, you will also be responsible for collaborating with our cross-functional teams to ensure that our search features are scalable, performant, and aligned with our business goals.Required Skills and QualificationsTo succeed in this role, you will need to have:5+ years experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in production environments.Experience with AI/LLM-based search experiences such as RAG, learning to rank, and query understanding.Expert level expertise in Python, with experience building APIs (preferably FastAPI).Deep understanding of search concepts, including analysers, tokenisers, relevance tuning, custom scoring, and query DSL.Experience with index template management, lifecycle policies, and large-scale data modelling.Proficiency in designing and optimising search pipelines and custom query builders.Practical hands-on experience developing software using AI-assisted tools and workflows such as Cursor, Co-pilot, and Windsurf.Strong testing background, including integration, regression, and performance testing.DevOps skills, including automation, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Experience with S3, AWS Lambda, and cloud-native architectures.BenefitsAs a member of our team, you can expect:A green-field impact – you will have the opportunity to architect the backbone of our data engine from the ground up.Remote-first flexibility – you will have the freedom to work from anywhere in India and set core hours that suit your life.A small senior team – you will be part of a close-knit team with fewer bureaucratic barriers and quicker decision-making.A collaborative, innovative, and supportive team culture.Why You'll Love ItThis is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing company and make a real impact on the development of our search platform.
