Encyclopdia Britannica is looking for a dynamic, knowledgeable, digital-first writer and editorwho will be responsible for Britannicas coverage of topics across assigned discipline clusters.Britannica is singularly proud of its 254-year history as a publisher and disseminator ofknowledge for students as well as lifelong learners. Our mission now is to reach learners wherethey live online and to engage with them in the multitude of ways people learn, including throughvisually driven storytelling.Demonstrable editorial and writing skills as well as subject matter expertise are essential for thisrole. Expertise in geography, history, chemistry, or sports (with special focus on cricket andfootball) is preferred but is not a requirement. The ideal candidate will have a master's degreeand will have the curiosity and enthusiasm to reach beyond their area of expertise, createcontent about topics that may not be immediately familiar, and be energized by sharing whatthey know and what they've learned with Britannica's audience.Being an editor at Britannica means working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environmentthat values the trustworthiness of its content more than anything else, and the successfulcandidate will thrive in this setting. The successful candidate will also be committed to producingcontent that is clear, fair, accurate, and relevant.RESPONSIBILITIESEditing, writing, and commissioning articles.Planning, in partnership with colleagues, contributors, and advisers, how Britannica canexpand and maintain its coverage of topics in the assigned disciplines.Working with colleagues and managers to identify articles that need revision andupdating such articles so that they are current, engaging to today's learners, andcomplete.Collaborating with media editors and illustrators on the acquisition and production ofimages, videos, and other media.Working with other editors during the revision and fact-checking process.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSThe applicant should have significant writing and editing experience.
