About This RoleThe Corporate Legal Counsel at SugarFit is responsible for managing the entire legal spectrum of the company, focusing on business-centric legal solutions, regulatory compliance within the healthcare industry, and risk mitigation.This role involves a mix of proactive risk management and responsive legal action. Key ResponsibilitiesDrafting, reviewing, and negotiating various legal documents, agreements, terms & conditions, and privacy policies to protect the company's interests.Ensuring all operations comply with local, national, and international legislation, especially those pertaining to the healthcare industry, data protection, and the use of medical devices.Managing disputes, pre-litigation, and litigation matters (including arbitration), and developing effective strategies to resolve legal issues. This may involve coordinating with external lawyers or counsels.Providing expert, strategic legal guidance and advice to management and various departments on the legal implications of business decisions, transactions, and activities.Handling intellectual property matters, which likely includes trademark and patent registrations given SugarFit's use of proprietary technology and machine learning in its health platform.Ensuring the organization follows sound corporate governance practices.Reviewing and enhancing internal policies and procedures to align with legal and regulatory requirements on an ongoing basis.Identifying potential legal risks, assessing them, and implementing mitigation measures and procedures.Required Skills and ExperienceA typical job posting seeks candidates with 4-7 years of relevant experience, ideally in a corporate legal environment or law firm, with a strong preference for experience in online consultation or the healthcare industry.Comprehensive knowledge of corporate laws, contract law, data protection regulations, and other laws impacting the corporate and healthcare sectors.Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, critical thinking, and multitasking abilities.The ability to work with integrity and responsibility when dealing with complex and sensitive matters.About Our OrganizationSugarFit is a well-funded health tech startup based in Bengaluru, India, focused on providing technology-backed, personalized solutions for type 2 diabetes reversal and management.The legal counsel's role is crucial in navigating the specific regulatory landscape of combining medical science, technology, and health coaching services.
