JOB DESCRIPTION

 

ENGINEERING MANAGER / HEAD OF DESIGN AND ENGINEERING

Place of work: Hitech Aerospace & Defense Park, Bangalore

Reporting to: General Manager India

 

Job Summary:


Manage a team of Project Engineers and Design Engineers; including hiring, establishing roles and responsibilities for the team, coaching and mentoring the team;

-         Receive drawings in CAD (AutoCAD, .pdf, other modeling SW formats)

-         Convert drawings from modeling software to AutoCAD formats (.dxf, .dwg)

-         Design tooling using AutoCAD

-         Develop Engineering systems and documents for the organization

-         Work closely with Customers, the Sales team, and the Leadership team

-         Work with/develop Tooling Vendors to provide appropriate tooling

-         Design various processes to produce parts to customer specifications

-         Work with customers for material selection and process design

-         Create design for manufacturing (DFM) documents for each process

-         Work closely with the operations team to ensure parts manufacturability

-         Reduce cost by improving yields, improving processes, and assisting production in productivity improvements

-         Work with sister companies in China for DFM, product and process development

-         Documentation management for new projects.

-         Willing to work with cross-functional teams like utility management, Operations, and Quality.

-         Willing to travel at short notice to local Customers, and willing to travel to company sites worldwide.

-         Drive the 5S and safety in the department

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE: BE in Mechanical Engineering with around 15 years of experience managing an Engineering & Design team. Should have proven experience as an Engineering Manager in the precision production & manufacturing industries. High-speed manufacturing industry experience is preferred.

 

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

-         10+ years experience in CAD design. Ability to use AutoCAD as the main drafting tool

-         Tooling design and precision machine shop experience

-         Able to Communicate well in English (speaking & writing) with customer engineers.

-         Conversational local language skills will be an added advantage

-         Good cross-functional team player with a positive approach.

-         Able to develop a high performing Engineering Team

-         Use of DOE in product/ design iterations

-         Excellent people management skills for coaching and team development

-         Remain updated in relevant technology trends

-         Ability to articulate effectively with customers and suppliers (direct materials, indirect materials, and capital equipment)

-         Good understanding of economic aspects of business decision-making processes

-         Excellent Problem-solving skills

-         Good knowledge of the Quality Management System
