We are seeking an expert Search Engineer to design and implement innovative search solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Elasticsearch or OpenSearch, AI/ML/LLM-powered search, and API development.Responsibilities include designing & implementing search solutions: architecting and developing advanced search features using custom analysers, tokenisers, and scoring algorithms. Additionally, they will be responsible for index & template management: creating and maintaining index templates, mappings, and lifecycle policies to ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability.The successful candidate will also develop query pipeline solutions: building and optimising custom query builders and search pipelines tailored to complex business requirements. Furthermore, they will leverage LLMs and AI for data enrichment and improved search relevance.Other key responsibilities include developing and maintaining robust, scalable APIs for search using Python (FastAPI) and leading efforts in integration, regression, and performance testing to ensure reliability and accuracy of search features.We require the following skills and qualifications:∙ 5+ years experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in production environments.∙ Expert level expertise in Python, with experience building APIs (preferably FastAPI).∙ Deep understanding of search concepts: analysers, tokenisers, relevance tuning, custom scoring, and query DSL.∙ Experience with index template management, lifecycle policies, and large-scale data modelling.∙ Proficiency in designing and optimising search pipelines and custom query builders.∙ Practical hands-on experience developing software using AI-assisted tools and workflows such as Cursor, Co-pilot, and Windsurf.Benefits of this role include:∙ Green-field impact—architect the backbone of our data engine from the ground up.∙ Remote-first flexibility—work anywhere in India and set core hours that suit your life.∙ Small senior team—less bureaucracy, quicker decisions, visible results.∙ A collaborative, innovative, and supportive team culture.
