Azure Kubernetes Security Specialist

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Security Expert to join our team as an Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Security Specialist.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and securing AKS environments, with a strong understanding of cloud security fundamentals including RBAC, Admission Controllers, Pod Security, and SCC equivalents.This role involves designing, deploying, and managing secure AKS clusters following Azure Well-Architected and CIS Kubernetes Benchmarks, as well as implementing container security policies using Azure Policy for Kubernetes, OPA Gatekeeper, or Kyverno.Key responsibilities include integrating Azure Defender for Containers (formerly Azure Security Center) to monitor vulnerabilities and runtime threats, managing AKS identity and access using Azure AD and Managed Identities to enforce least-privilege access, configuring RBAC, NetworkPolicies, Pod Security Standards, and Secrets encryption within AKS.The successful candidate will also be responsible for enabling image scanning via Microsoft Defender, Trivy, or Aqua integrated with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions), enforcing image provenance and registry security using Azure Container Registry (ACR).Beyond the technical aspects, this role requires excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills, as well as strong cross-functional communication and collaboration with security and cloud engineering teams.To be considered for this position, candidates should possess 5+ years of experience in Cloud Security, DevSecOps, or Container Platform Engineering, with 3+ years of hands-on experience managing and securing AKS environments.Design, deploy, and manage secure AKS clustersImplement container security policiesIntegrate Azure Defender for ContainersManage AKS identity and accessConfigure RBAC, NetworkPolicies, and Pod Security StandardsEnable image scanningEnforce image provenance and registry securityCertifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or CKS (Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist) are highly desirable, along with proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.Key Qualifications:Cloud Security ExpertiseAzure Kubernetes Service (AKS) ManagementContainer Security PoliciesAzure Policy for KubernetesAzure Defender for ContainersCI/CD Security IntegrationPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCertified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)Microsoft Certified: Azure Kubernetes Service Specialist / Azure Security Engineer AssociateOPA Gatekeeper, Kyverno, or Pod Security AdmissionAzure Defender for Cloud / Defender for Containers integrationInfrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates)CIS, NIST 800-190, or Azure Security Benchmark compliance frameworksSoft SkillsExcellent Troubleshooting and Analytical SkillsStrong Cross-Functional Communication and Collaboration
