Job Title: AI and Machine Learning EngineerWe are seeking an experienced engineer to join our team in developing and deploying artificial intelligence models.The ideal candidate will design, develop, and deploy LLM- and RAG-based systems to ingest NHS data sources, generate accurate responses, and power chatbot and voice agent interactions.Main Responsibilities:System Development: Lead end-to-end development of AI models, integrating with frontend and backend teams to ensure seamless integration into our Azure-hosted microservices architecture.Prompt Engineering: Craft, iterate, and optimize prompts—and design voice-agent dialogue flows—to maximize response relevance, reduce latency, and ensure clinical safety across text and voice channels.Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, quality, and performance improvements.Performance Monitoring and Optimisation: Instrument AI pipelines, analyze logs, troubleshoot edge cases, and implement continuous-learning improvements.Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of the latest advances in LLMs, RAG, conversational AI frameworks, and NHS-specific compliance (GDPR, DTAC) to inform our technical roadmap.Quality Assurance: Define and execute rigorous test plans in collaboration with QA to validate model accuracy, voice-agent performance, and compliance with healthcare standards.Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, advocate for best practices in MLOps, prompt engineering, voice-agent design, and model governance, and contribute to architecture reviews.
