Job Title: Operations Manager - Asset Inspection and Management
Company Overview:
Solinas is a cutting edge ClimateTech startup founded by alumni of IIT Madras, specializing in
innovative solutions for water and sanitation challenges. We are dedicated to eliminating manual
scavenging, reducing NonRevenue Water (NRW), and enhancing infrastructure longevity. By
leveraging technology, including robotic systems and advanced leak detection methods, we are
revolutionizing the water management industry.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to lead and optimize our asset
inspection operations while driving NRW reduction strategies and leak detection initiatives. This
role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence, delivering highquality services, and
implementing innovative methodologies to transform the water and sanitation industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management:
● Plan, oversee, and optimize the daytoday execution of asset inspection projects,
ensuring efficiency and timeliness.
● Coordinate with crossfunctional teams to ensure smooth operations, from resource
allocation to project completion.
● Monitor budgets and project timelines, adapting strategies to meet client and
organizational goals.
● Ensure compliance with safety standards during field operations and equipment
handling.
● Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and enhance operational
performance.
2. NRW Strategy Development and Implementation:
● Design and implement innovative NRW reduction strategies tailored to client needs
(Short-term and Long-term).
● Assess and quantify water loss through physical leaks, metering inaccuracies, and
unauthorized consumption.
● Provide recommendations for network improvements and maintenance schedules based
on inspection findings.
● Conduct data analysis to identify NRW hotspots and propose actionable solutions.
● Regularly review and refine NRW initiatives for scalability and effectiveness.
3. Leak Detection Initiatives:
● Oversee the implementation of acoustic and advanced leak detection techniques across
projects.
● Conduct condition assessments of water infrastructure using robotic inspection systems
and other technologies.
● Interpret and analyze data from leak detection equipment to pinpoint problem areas in
water distribution networks.
● Use GIS mapping and other software tools to document leaks and generate actionable
reports.
● Train teams in the deployment of leak detection equipment and interpretation of results.
● Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards during inspection and leak
detection activities.
● Document and present findings to stakeholders, providing recommendations for asset
maintenance and repair.
4. Technologies and Methods:
● Acoustic Leak Detection: Using ground microphones and correlators to detect leak
sound frequencies.
● Infrared Thermography: Identifying leaks through heat patterns on the surface.
● Pressure Management: Monitoring pressure zones to detect anomalies that indicate
leaks.
● Tracer Gas Techniques: Using safe gasses injected into pipelines to trace leaks.
● Data Analytics and AI: Utilizing predictive models to identify potential leak zones.
● Pipeline Robots and Endoscopy: Conducting in-depth inspections of pipelines with
advanced robotics.
Qualifications and Skills:
● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a
related field.
● Proven experience in operations management, preferably in water infrastructure or
utility services.
● Strong knowledge of NRW strategies and leak detection technologies (e.g., acoustic
methods).
● Excellent leadership, analytical, and problemsolving skills.
● Ability to manage multiple projects and teams across different locations.
● Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a clientfocused approach.
