IT Security Internship

The intern will gain experience in monitoring, analysing, and improving security posture across infrastructure, applications, and data systems.Key Learning Areas & ResponsibilitiesSecurity Monitoring & Log AnalysisWork with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) technologies to fine-tune configurationsAnalyse system and network logs to identify anomalies and potential threatsUnderstand log correlation and event prioritisationCreate and customise alert rules to detect specific attack patterns, policy violations, or unusual behavioursBuild custom dashboards and visualisations to track security events, compliance status, and trendsAlert & Threat AnalysisReview alerts generated by Unified Threat Management (UTM) systems and firewallsAssess alerts for criticality, impact, and relevanceDocument findings and investigate remediation stepsData Privacy & Software EvaluationAnalyze software applications for compliance with data privacy principlesIdentify and report potential risks related to data handling and storageCheck and report if the software has any known security vulnerabilities, CVEs, reported issues, or any recent major data breaches, compromises, or incidentsApplication Security & Vulnerability AssessmentParticipate in application-level vulnerability assessments and penetration testing (VAPT)Review internal VAPT reports to understand vulnerabilities, their severity, and potential impactAssist in documentation of security reports, ensuring findings are clearly recorded with technical and business contextHelp in vulnerability management, including logging identified issues in tracking systemsEducation:Degree-seeking student (B.S./M.S. in IT/Computer Science) developing expertise in Cyber Security
