The ideal candidate will be passionate about mobile technologies, have a strong understanding of modern Android frameworks, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.What you'll doDesign and develop advanced Android applications using Kotlin and JavaCollaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and backend developers to define, design, and ship new featuresEnsure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications across a wide range of devicesIdentify, troubleshoot, and fix bugs while improving application performanceImplement modern Android architectures such as MVVM or MVIContinuously discover, evaluate, and adopt new technologies to maximize development efficiencyConduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior team membersRemove periods at the end of the of each bulletWhat we're looking forBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field5+ years of hands-on experience in Android application developmentStrong proficiency in Kotlin and JavaDeep understanding of Android SDK, Jetpack components, Coroutines, and dependency injection frameworks (e.g., Dagger/Hilt)Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and working with JSONStrong knowledge of UI/UX standards, Material Design, and responsive layoutsExperience with Git, Gradle, and CI/CD pipelinesFamiliarity with Firebase, Google Play Console, and app publishing processesRemove periods at the end of the of each bulletWhile not required, these are a plus:Experience with Jetpack ComposeKnowledge of unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and EspressoFamiliarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or AzureExperience working in Agile or Scrum environmentsExposure to hardware integration, including experience with the Android Native Development Kit (NDK) and proficiency in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) frameworksOur StackLanguages + Frameworks: TypeScript, React, Scala (principally), Java (limited)Datastores: MySQL, PostgreSQL, SnowflakeCloud: AWSVersion control: Git & GitHubAI Tooling: Copilot on GitHubObservability: DatadogWhen you join Metropolis, you'll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate.
