Job DescriptionThe role of a Founding Backend Engineer involves architecting the core decision engine of an AI Operator. The engine relies on a perfect understanding of reality to make high-stakes financial trades.The Context Layer serves as the sensory system that determines how the system sees the world. The engineer will own the infrastructure that fuses rigid financial data with messy and unstructured signals. This includes designing and maintaining canonical data models, building deep 1P data integrations, integrating unstructured data and LLMs, and architecting the observer framework.The ideal candidate is a systems thinker with 4+ years of experience building high-throughput backend systems in Python, Go, or Java. They should have high agency, being able to diagnose problems and ship fixes without needing approval. Data polyglot skills are also required, including comfort with SQL, NoSQL, and message queues.Bonus points are given for real-time systems experience, complex scraping, distributed systems, and data engineering at scale. Compensation includes daily lunch and dinner, relocation support, comprehensive health, dental, vision, and unlimited PTO benefits.
