Role Title: Senior Network Engineering Manager, Cloud & Data Center

Position Summary:

Marriott International is transforming its global network technology to offer the most advanced, secure, reliable, and scalable networks in the hospitality industry. Building a software defined, regionalized network that is scalable leveraging cloud infrastructure is a key enabler to drive this transformation.?To help lead this initiative, we are seeking an innovative and hands-on network engineering leader for our Property Network Operations Engineering team overseeing Marriott's next generation network infrastructure at our 9,000+ properties globally. This position supports daily operations in the engineering and maintaining SD-WAN, routing, switching, and firewall network solutions. We are looking for a leader who has proven hands-on experience in:

• Leading network engineering teams and providing technical guidance to design, implement and provide ongoing support for network infrastructure.
• Engineering a global enterprise network with 4,000+ branch sites or similar scale service providers in areas of SD-WAN, routing, switching, and firewalling.
• Operating networks and managing KPIs for network availability and performance.
• Managing IP Address resources including for IPv4, IPv6, and RFC1918 space.
• Driving operational processes to improve network uptime, performance, and recovery.
• Leveraging network instrumentation and automation to identify meaningful insights from network performance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of high-performing network and firewall security architects and engineers to maintain our next-generation networks in Marriott properties globally.
• Provide a Tier III team escalation point for Network Operations incidents.
• Manage network software, hardware, and support contract lifecycles especially for upgrades to introduce bug fixes, remediate security vulnerabilities, and prevent vendor end of support.
• Be accountable for driving the implementation of solutions in collaboration with the Architecture team to satisfy internal and external customer requirements in agreed upon timelines under an Agile project management framework.
• Oversee capacity planning of the network including for bandwidth, port availability, and network device processor capability.
• Optimize network performance and operational support through analysis of key performance metrics as part of the ITIL lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Finance and Global Technology Procurement to create budgets to support lifecycle and capacity management.
• Partner with and manage vendors to deliver technical and support solutions based on contractual services agreements.
• Work with vendors and the Test and Cert Team to assess risk for new codes and to minimize the introduction of defects into the production network.
• Maintain a library of process documentation for network best practices, standard operating procedures, and for incident response.
• Driving measurable business value through the development and implementation of network automation solutions.
• Manage the performance of the team members and provide mentorship for their growth and performance.

• Provides direction and assistance to other teams regarding projects. Determines priorities, schedules, plans and necessary resources to ensure completion of any projects on schedule.

• Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the quality of the teams' operations.

• Supports achievement of performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.

Leading Discipline Team:

• Champions leaders' vision for product and service delivery.
• Works with direct reports and peers to develop and implement strategies and goals. Communicates a clear and consistent message regarding goals to produce desired results.
• Makes and executes the necessary decisions to keep the team moving forward toward achievement of goals.
• Provides targeted and timely communication of results, achievements and challenges to direct reports, peers, and leaders.

Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities:

• Interviews and hires employees.
• Promotes the fair and equitable treatment of employees.
• Facilitates regular, ongoing communication in the department (e.g., staff meetings).
• Fosters employee commitment to providing excellent service, participates in daily stand-up meetings and models desired service behaviors in all interactions with customer and employees

Skill and Experience:

• 8-10 years' experience in designing and implementing complex and creating road maps for integrated networking solutions with multitudes of technologies including SD-WAN, routing, switching, and firewalling.
• 8-10 years' experience in leading and managing technical teams.
• 3+ years of hands-on network operations experience.
• Knowledge in network management including use of tools for element management (e.g. Palo Alto Strata Cloud Manager), performance management (e.g. NetScout) and automation (e.g. Ansible)
• Accomplishments in developing technology roadmaps and strategies.
• Experience in network operations including managing changes, incidents, and problems.
• Comfortable applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to define success.
• Ability to build strong relationships and network throughout the broader IT community.
• Understanding in the design, implementation, and operational support of mission critical products.
• Strong influencing skills and an ability to overcome barriers while driving change.
• Ability to research emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders and IT teams.
• Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities.

Education and Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field experience/certification
• Certification in network and/or security technologies (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, CISSP, Cisco DevNet, etc.)
