Axis Mutual Fund | Taxation Manager

Job Summary:
Will be responsible for managing and executing tasks related to direct and indirect taxes
Responsibilities:
1. Direct Taxation:
o Prepare and file income tax returns for the organization.
o Ensure compliance with all direct tax regulations and timely payment of taxes.
o Assist in tax planning and strategy to optimize tax liabilities.
o Handle tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
o Transaction related due diligence and review of deal agreements from tax perspective;
o Maintain accurate records of all direct tax transactions and documentation.
2. Indirect Taxation:
o Prepare GST returns (GSTR 1, GSTR 3B) and other indirect tax filings.
o Provide key insights post performing reconciliations with 2A w.r.t. short credit, credit lying excess in 2A – invoices not yet booked and take necessary action i.e. follow-up with vendor, department etc.
o Maintain tracker of notices issued by department & draft suitable reply for routine indirect tax notices
o Ensure compliance with GST laws and regulations
o Assist in the preparation and submission of indirect tax payments and necessary paperwork.
o Handle indirect tax audits and resolve any disputes with tax authorities
o Stay updated on changes in indirect tax legislation
3. General Responsibilities:
o Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate tax treatment of transactions.
o Provide support during audits.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Indian tax laws and IND AS
• Proficiency in accounting software (Infor Sun System) and advanced excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
It would be an added advantage if the candidate has prior experience in any of the following: a. Asset Management Company or b. Big 4 or Mid-size practicing CA firm
