Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Assistant Vice President of Data Engineering to lead our data engineering team. This role is pivotal in driving data strategy, defining and implementing an efficient architecture, leading the implementation and management of our data engineering and data management platforms, systems, for enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead the data engineering team in developing robust data architectures and pipelines.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align data initiatives with business goals and drive the organization's data strategy.
Data Architecture & Development:
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable data platforms, data pipelines and architectures that support analytics and business intelligence.
- Ensure data integrity, quality, and security (at rest and in motion) across all data sources.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and IT teams to understand data needs and deliver effective solutions.
- Present complex data-related concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.
Innovation & Best Practices:
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and analytics.
- Promote best practices in data management and engineering within the team and across the organization.
- Platform and Program Management:
- Evaluate and implement robust & scalable data platforms (data ingestion, data storage, API Hub) and maintain them
- Oversee multiple data projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
- Use agile methodologies to manage project workflows and facilitate team collaboration.
Team Development:
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance team capabilities.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- 18+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with a proven track record in leadership roles and atleast last 3+ years in a leadership role for large organization .
- Extensive experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modeling.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).
- Experience with data ingestion solutions (ADF, Informatica, Talend etc)
- Experience with data tools and technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Databricks, Hadoop, Spark etc).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and data security tools.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
