Job Role OverviewWe are seeking a seasoned API professional to spearhead the development and maintenance of our APIs.Main Responsibilities:API Development: Design, build, and deploy APIs using industry-leading tools like IBM API Connect and DataPower gateways.API Governance: Establish and enforce robust security policies, including authentication/authorization mechanisms (OAuth2, API-key, JWT), rate limits, quotas, versioning, and lifecycle management.API Management: Manage the API gateway, overseeing routing, transformation, orchestration, protocol mediation (REST, SOAP, GraphQL), and traffic control.Developer Portal: Set up and maintain a user-friendly developer portal, publishing APIs, onboarding developers, documenting APIs, and facilitating self-service subscriptions.Monitoring and Analytics: Closely monitor API usage, performance, latency, and error metrics, analyzing usage patterns and production issues to inform strategic decisions.Security and Resilience: Ensure the secure integration of back-end systems, implement payload validation, mitigate threats, and ensure high-availability of APIs.Professional Development: Stay current with emerging protocols (GraphQL, WebSockets) and evolving IBM tool capabilities, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in API management practices.Required Skills and Qualifications:Technical Expertise: Proficiency in AWS cloud services, specifically API Gateway, S3, and EKS.API Architecture: Strong understanding of API design principles, including security, scalability, and performance considerations.Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages commonly used for API development, such as Java, Python, or Node.js.Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and deployment models.Collaboration and Communication: Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and develop creative solutions.Benefits of This Role:This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, collaborate with a talented team, and drive business growth through innovative API management strategies.
