As a Battery and Swap Station Mechanical Designer, your role involves conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing the development of battery storage systems and swap stations for electric vehicles. Here are the key responsibilities and skills associated with this role:


Key Responsibilities:


1. System Design and Development:


-Define the overall mechanical architecture of different battery types (Swappable battery, Fixed Battery, Storage battery systems and Swapping Stations) based on project requirements, space constraints, and operational needs.

-Design modular and scalable systems that can accommodate different cell sizes, S-P architecture, battery sizes, types, and configurations for electric vehicles.

-Design battery enclosures and racks for safe storage, handling, and charging of lithium-ion batteries, considering thermal management, ventilation, and safety features.


2. Product Design and Development:

 Designing new products or improving existing ones by creating 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD software.

 Conducting feasibility studies, concept generation, and prototyping to validate design ideas and functionality.

 Performing stress analysis, tolerance analysis, and simulations (e.g., FEA, CFD) to validate design performance and durability.


3. Fixture and Tooling Design:

 Designing fixtures, jigs, and tooling for manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, assembly, and inspection.

 Developing custom tools and fixtures to improve production efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability.


4. Swap Station Operational Mechanisms:

 Develop mechanical mechanisms and systems for automated or manual battery swapping operations, including lifting mechanisms, alignment guides, and locking mechanisms.

 Design user-friendly interfaces, control panels, and safety protocols for efficient and reliable battery swap processes.


5. Direct Charging & Swapping Infrastructure:

 Design charging infrastructure components such as charging ports, connectors, cables, and safety interlocks for seamless integration with battery storage systems and electric vehicles.

 Ensure compatibility with charging standards (e.g., CCS, CHAdeMO, Type 2) and compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.


Skills and Qualifications:

 Bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

 Proven experience (5+ years) in mechanical design, product development, and project management, preferably in the automotive or energy sector.

 Proven experience of (5+ years) in EV industry working with Battery, Charging system, components, design, prototyping, stack-up analysis, integration, mould flow analysis etc.

 Expertise in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Star CCM) for 3D modelling, CFA/CFD analytics, mechanical design, and assembly simulations.

 Knowledge of engineering principles, materials science, structural analysis, and finite element analysis (FEA) for mechanical systems.

 Familiarity with battery technologies, thermal management systems, electrical systems, Charging system, and safety standards/regulations related to lithium-ion batteries and EV infrastructure.

 Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in crossfunctional teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical and software components.

 Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems, including performance testing, tolerance analysis, and failure mode analysis.

 Excellent communication skills, project management capabilities, and a proactive approach to innovation and continuous improvement in mechanical design for battery storage and swap stations.
