We are looking for a visionary Product Head to lead our editorial and product development efforts. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the children's publishing industry, a strong market pulse and an instinct for creating products that excel commercially and creatively. This role requires someone with the mindset of a founder —able to take ownership, inspire teams, and deliver exceptional products that resonate with customers.


**Key Responsibilities**


1. **Product Strategy and Development**

- Drive the overall vision and strategy for children's book publishing, ensuring all products align with market demands.

- Oversee the end-to-end product development process, including content ideation, editorial execution, design quality, and timely delivery.

- Identify and capitalize on industry trends to innovate new product ideas that captivate the market.


2. **Editorial and Market Excellence**

- Set the **editorial benchmarks** to ensure the highest standards of storytelling, design, and product packaging.

- Conduct regular reviews to refine editorial quality, illustrations, and overall market positioning.

- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to gather feedback and insights directly from customers and retailers.


3. **Leadership and Team Management**

- Build and lead a **streamlined, high-performing team** of editors, designers, and illustrators.

- Foster a culture of **accountability and ownership**, ensuring everyone understands their role in creating market-ready products.

- Provide mentorship, guidance, and decisive leadership to deliver high-quality outputs without constant top-level oversight.


4. **Market Exposure and Feedback Integration**

- Stay **closely connected to the market**, attending book fairs, distributor meetings, and gathering insights to ensure products meet customer expectations.

- Continuously evaluate the success of products and integrate real-time feedback into development cycles.


5. **Business Impact and Founder Instinct**

- Take full ownership of product success, balancing creative vision with commercial viability.

- Work like a **business owner**, with a focus on cost control, team efficiency, and product excellence.

- Ensure that every product resonates with the brand identity and stands out in a competitive market.

**Key Requirements**

- 12+ years of experience in children's book publishing or a related editorial/product leadership role.

- Strong understanding of **product-market fit** with proven experience in creating successful, commercially viable book products.

- Hands-on experience leading **editorial and design teams** and setting clear quality benchmarks.

- Demonstrated ability to make **data-driven decisions** while keeping creative storytelling at the center.

- High market exposure with active participation in industry events, customer discussions, and competitor analysis.

- **Founder instinct**—someone who thinks like an entrepreneur, takes ownership, and can lead from the front.
