Essential Skills:

  • Basic Knowledge of Oracle and PostgreSQL Databases: Understanding of Oracle and PostgreSQL database architecture, structures, and operations (tablespaces, schemas, data types, etc.).
  • SQL Proficiency: Ability to write and understand basic SQL queries for troubleshooting and administrative tasks.
  • Basic Backup & Recovery Knowledge: Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies for both Oracle (RMAN) and PostgreSQL (pg_dump, pg_basebackup).
  • Performance Monitoring & Tuning: Basic experience in monitoring and improving database performance.
  • Operating System Knowledge: Familiarity with Linux/Unix or Windows operating systems where Oracle and PostgreSQL are deployed.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to work with accuracy and follow standard operating procedures.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Database Tools: Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), pgAdmin, or other database management and monitoring tools.
  • Scripting Knowledge: Basic knowledge of shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell) for automating database tasks.
  • Database Security Practices: Understanding of basic security principles such as user authentication, roles, and permissions.
  • Version Control & Change Management: Experience in working with version-controlled environments and knowledge of change management processes.
