Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team and drive the development of our autonomous check-out solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software and hardware engineering, a proven track record of leading successful product development, and a passion for innovation in the retail technology space.
Key Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Expertise in full stack development with focus on Java, Python, Spring.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of system architecture, cloud technologies, performance, security and scalability.
- Proven ability to drive product development from concept to deployment.
- Experience with quality assurance and testing methodologies.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Evaluate new products, frameworks and tools.
- Strategic thinking and vision.
- Experience in agile development methodologies.
- Prior experience in startups is nice to have.
- Experience working with distributed, high availability systems is a must.
- Experience in devops, performance engineering and experience in any one of AWS, GCP, Azure or equivalent is a must.
- Ability to deliver a high-quality product in a fast-moving business environment.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Align engineering objectives with company goals and strategy.
Technical Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and execute the technical roadmap for our autonomous check-out systems.
- Oversee all aspects of product development, including software, hardware, and system integration.
- Ensure robust and scalable architecture for our technology solutions.
Product Development:
- Collaborate with product management and other stakeholders to define product requirements and specifications.
- Drive the end-to-end product development process, from concept to deployment.
- Implement best practices in software development, testing, security, performance testing and deployment.
- Estimates, planning and sprint execution.
Innovation & R&D:
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies in autonomous systems and retail technology.
- Drive research and development initiatives to enhance our product offerings.
- Explore and integrate advanced technologies such as AI, computer vision, and IoT.
Quality & Performance:
- Ensure the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability in our products.
- Implement rigorous testing, validation, and quality assurance processes.
- Monitor and optimise system performance in real-time operational environments.
- Aspire to avoid and remove technical debt as appropriate.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, computer vision, product, design, operations, and sales.
- Communicate technical concepts and project status to non-technical stakeholders.
