Quidich Innovation Labs is a global company headquartered in Mumbai, India that pioneers in customized technology solutions for Sports Broadcast. Building on this thinking, we have created various technology tools over the past five years and deployed them at tournaments such as the Indian Premier League, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, ICC Women’s World Cup and Men's FIH Hockey World Cup, to name a few.
Role:
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to build and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure to support real-time sports analytics and broadcasting. In this role, you will work closely with the Data Science team to design efficient, scalable data solutions, ensuring the reliable flow and integrity of data collected during live sporting events. Your work will power insights into player positions, game dynamics, and tactics in real-time.
Responsibilities:
Data Pipeline Development & Maintenance:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining efficient ETL pipelines and workflows on AWS to facilitate smooth data ingestion, processing, and analysis.
- Building scalable and reliable data solutions to collect and ingest live player position data at high frequency from various data sources and APIs.
Data Transformation & Integration:
- Collaborating with the Data Science team to implement data transformation and aggregation algorithms that enable advanced pattern recognition and analysis of player positions, game events, and tactical trends.
Data Storage Optimization:
- Optimizing data storage and retrieval mechanisms to ensure high performance and low latency, supporting real-time data access for the broadcast and analytics teams.
Data Quality Assurance:
- Implementing robust data quality measures and validation processes to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across multiple live events.
Cloud Infrastructure & Service Management:
- Configuring and managing AWS services, including S3, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, and other relevant tools, to support the data engineering and data science needs of the project.
System Integration & Collaboration:
- Working closely with the back-end development team to integrate data pipelines into web-based platforms, ensuring seamless and consistent data flow to end-users.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Monitoring data pipelines for performance and reliability, troubleshoot issues, and implement error-handling and recovery mechanisms to minimize downtime during live broadcasts.
Continuous Improvement & Research:
- Staying updated with the latest developments in data engineering, AWS services, and data science. Regularly suggest and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of data processing systems.
Qualifications, Skills & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven 2+ years of experience in data engineering roles, particularly in managing high-volume, real-time data.
- Proficiency in AWS services (e.g., S3, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway) and experience building cloud-based data solutions.
- Strong experience in designing and maintaining ETL processes and data pipelines, ideally with streaming data frameworks.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java, with experience in building data transformation and aggregation algorithms.
- Knowledge of data validation and data quality assurance best practices.
- Experience with data storage solutions, performance optimization, and retrieval techniques for low-latency access.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools or libraries is a plus.
- Familiarity with streaming and real-time data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache Spark) is a plus.
- Knowledge of tracking algorithms and sports analytics is an added advantage.
