Vector Database Administrator Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity to work with a cutting-edge vector database technology, enabling innovative applications and services.As a Vector Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining Astra DB Serverless environments in production.Key Responsibilities:Database Health Monitoring: Continuously monitor database health, performance, and availability using built-in tools and custom alerts.Backup and Restore Strategies: Develop and implement backup, restore, and cloning strategies for disaster recovery and operational continuity.Data Ingestion and Indexing: Support ingestion and indexing of vector data for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) applications.Storage Optimization: Optimize storage and query performance using Storage Attached Indexing and vector search capabilities.Schema and Collection Design: Collaborate with data engineering teams to design and maintain schemas and collections.Required Skills and Qualifications:Proven experience as a DBA in production environments, preferably with NoSQL or distributed databases.Familiarity with GenAI use cases, semantic search, and vector embeddings.Hands-on experience with DataStax Astra DB, especially vector database features.Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation and data operations.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and multi-region deployments.Strong understanding of database security, performance tuning, and monitoring.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Benefits:Opportunity to work with innovative technology and applications.Collaborative team environment.Professional development opportunities.Apply now if you are excited about working with vector databases and innovative technologies
