Job Title: Early Years Coordinator
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Implementation:
- Lead the planning and execution of the IB curriculum for early years, ensuring it aligns with IB philosophy and standards.
- Design age-appropriate learning experiences that promote inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Ensure curriculum continuity across year groups and consistency with the whole school’s academic plan.
Learning Environment:
- Create a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment conducive to young children's growth.
- Implement inclusive practices to cater to diverse learners' needs, including language development and learning support.
Teaching and Learning Support:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Early Years teachers, offering instructional support and professional development opportunities.
- Observe and evaluate teachers to ensure high teaching standards, including IB methodologies like inquiry-based learning.
- Model effective teaching practices and foster collaborative team dynamics within the Early Years team.
Student Development:
- Monitor and support children's progress in physical, social, emotional, and intellectual domains.
- Promote values such as international-mindedness, respect, and social responsibility in alignment with IB principles.
Parent & Community Engagement:
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, curriculum updates, and school events.
- Organize parent workshops and events that involve families in their child’s learning process.
- Liaise with the wider community to enhance the Early Years program with guest speakers, cultural activities, or field trips.
Administration & Leadership:
- Manage daily operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and coordinating special events.
- Oversee assessment practices for early years students, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- Collaborate with school leadership to ensure alignment of the Early Years program with the school’s strategic goals.
- Ensure compliance with IB and national/local education regulations.
Professional Development:
- Stay current with trends in early childhood education and IB developments through continuous learning.
- Lead and participate in professional learning communities and workshops to share best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- A teaching qualification, preferably recognized internationally.
- Proven experience with the IB framework, particularly in early years education.
- At least 3-5 years of teaching experience in early years, preferably in an international or IB setting.
- Leadership or coordination experience in early childhood education settings.
