About the Business Unit

The Languages business encompasses all non-English or Indic Brands within the Times Internet portfolio, featuring a presence in eight regional languages across India, including Navbharat Times in Hindi, Maharashtra Times in Marathi, Vijay Karnataka in Kannada, Samayam in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, and I am Gujarat.

Our Languages division stands as the fastest-growing regional content platform in India. We have an audience base of 180 million users, with approximately one in every four Indians engaging with Times Internet Languages Platforms. We are the leading news and information player in the Indic Languages category on Comscore. We have maintained this dominance for several years now.

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Writer to join our Tamil Lifestyle team at Samayam Tamil. The ideal candidate will bring 10–12 years of professional writing experience, including substantial time spent in print media, and possess a strong background in lifestyle journalism. This role demands excellent command over the Tamil language and the ability to create engaging, reader-friendly, and impactful lifestyle content.

Work Responsibilities:

• Write, edit, and curate high-quality lifestyle stories across categories such as health, fashion, food, travel, relationships, and culture.
• Ideate fresh and trending story concepts that resonate with Tamil readers.
• Adapt long-form print media sensibilities into digital-friendly storytelling formats.
• Work closely with the editorial team to maintain the highest quality and accuracy standards.
• Ensure stories are optimized for digital platforms without compromising authenticity and creativity.

Skills, Experience & Expertise:

• 10–12 years of proven experience in journalism/content writing.
• At least 5–7 years of experience in covering the lifestyle beat (print or digital).
• Prior work experience in print media is mandatory.
• Exceptional command over Tamil language (written and verbal).
• Strong understanding of audience preferences in lifestyle content.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining creativity and originality.
• Familiarity with digital publishing, SEO, and social media platforms will be an added advantage.

Eligibility:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related field.
• 10–12 years of professional experience in writing/editing.
• Minimum 5–7 years on the lifestyle beat.
• Strong background in Tamil writing with proven published work.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in both print and digital media.
