Job Description:As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for administering and maintaining Astra DB Serverless (Vector) environments in production.You will monitor database health, performance, and availability using built-in tools and custom alerts. Additionally, you will implement backup, restore, and cloning strategies for disaster recovery and operational continuity.Furthermore, you will support ingestion and indexing of vector data for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) applications. You will optimize storage and query performance using Storage Attached Indexing and vector search capabilities.Collaboration with data engineering teams is essential to design and maintain schemas and collections. Ensuring database security through role-based access control, encryption, and audit logging is also critical.Maintaining compliance with internal and external data governance policies is necessary.Auto-optimizing operational tasks using Astra APIs and CI/CD pipelines is required. Integration of Astra DB with AI platforms and developer tools is also necessary.Lastly, providing production support, including incident response and root cause analysis, is crucial.Required Skills & Qualifications:Proven experience as a DBA in production environments, preferably with NoSQL or distributed databases.Hands-on experience with DataStax Astra DB, especially vector database features.Familiarity with GenAI use cases, semantic search, and vector embeddings.Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation and data operations.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and multi-region deployments.Strong understanding of database security, performance tuning, and monitoring.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
