Job Purpose:

The Dean of the School of Engineering will lead and manage the overall school operations and faculty at University, in line with the ethos, culture, and values of the university. This leadership role focuses on academic excellence, research innovation, and operational efficiency, ensuring that the school meets its strategic objectives and maintains its competitive edge.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Build a vision for the School of Engineering, defining medium- and long-term academic and research goals.
  • Lead the school in alignment with university objectives, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and academic growth.
  • Develop an advancement strategy for the continued growth and prominence of the school.
  • Provide leadership to faculty, ensuring an environment where students can thrive and develop into future leaders and innovators.
  • Oversee faculty performance in terms of regularity, discipline, and academic conduct.
  • Ensure all administrative procedures are followed, including admissions, fee collection, attendance, recruitment, procurement, and audits.
  • Liaise with governmental, corporate, and academic institutions to build partnerships and collaborations.
  • Promote research within the school, encouraging faculty to guide students on research projects.
  • Monitor regulatory guidelines and ensure compliance with university and governmental requirements.
  • Manage the school’s budget and resources strategically, ensuring sustainable growth.

Academic Excellence:

  • Ensure academic excellence through innovative teaching methods and curriculum enhancements.
  • Evaluate and update assessment criteria to meet modern educational standards.
  • Build and maintain academic programs of distinction, supporting faculty in continuous professional development.
  • Develop state-of-the-art infrastructure, including libraries and laboratories, to foster an international learning environment.

Problem Solving & Relationship Management:

  • Address operational challenges promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure transparent and open communication within the school.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school and in hiring practices.
  • Cultivate a collaborative environment across programs and departments.
  • Establish external partnerships, promoting the school and university at conferences and events.

Innovation:

  • Lead the school in pioneering research and innovation within the field of engineering.
  • Encourage collaboration and the adoption of best practices from other institutions and programs.

  • Strong academic, leadership, and administrative abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strategic thinker with strong time management and conflict resolution skills.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Engineering or related disciplines from a reputed institute (India or overseas).

Work Experience:

  • 10 to 15 years of academic and administrative experience.
  • Experience working in premier universities/institutions is highly desirable.
  • Proven research record with at least 10 international publications and patents.
