Job Title: Data Scientist - IT Operations
Experience : 3-4 years
Location : Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir

About the Role:
We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our IT Operations team, which includes CloudOps, DevOps, and DBOps functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for putting systems in place for cost and spend analytics, anomaly detection and prevention, forecasting future trends, track data across multiple tools and sources to provide actionable insights on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Collection & Automation : Build and automate data workflows that collect information from AWS, New Relic APM, Logz, Idera and other IT Ops tools to streamline reporting and improve data accuracy.
Cost & Trend Analysis : Perform AWS cost analysis, identifying trends and opportunities for cost savings. Forecast future cloud and operational expenses based on historical data and expected growth patterns.
Cost Anomalies Detection: Set up a system to detect unexpected spikes in cloud usage and expenses. Compare historical data with current spend trends to flag any unusual increases in resource consumption.
Performance Insights : Use New Relic APM data to monitor application performance, providing actionable recommendations for optimization.
Security Anomalies : Detect unusual behaviours in App environments that might indicate security threats, such as unauthorized access to cloud resources, unusual network traffic, or unexpected changes in system configurations.
Operational Anomalies : Help setup data-driven approach for SRE team to detect anomalies in deployment pipelines, failure rates, and incident resolution times, analyse operational inefficiencies using Jira Service Management data.
Capacity Planning : Help CloudOps team with setting up a system of capacity planning by analysing patterns in data usage, workloads, and cloud infrastructure consumption, helping them scale the resources dynamically and avoid overspending or under-provisioning.
Log Analysis : Analyse logs from sources such as Logz.io to detect patterns, troubleshoot issues, and provide insights into system performance and security.
Reporting & Visualization : Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to communicate insights.
Collaboration : Work closely with CloudOps, DevOps, and DBOps teams to understand operational needs and support decision-making with data-driven insights.
Predictive Insights : Apply statistical modelling and forecasting techniques to anticipate trends and support proactive decision-making.
Qualifications:
3-4 years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar analytical role.
Strong experience in automating data workflows and building data pipelines.
Proficiency with SQL, data modelling, and experience with data warehousing and/or data lake technologies.
Familiarity with cloud cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer), application performance monitoring (New Relic APM), and log analysis platforms (Logz.io), SQL Performance monitoring tools (e.g., Idera)
Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
Basic understanding of IT Operations functions, including CloudOps, DevOps, and DBOps.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with data engineering and ETL processes.
Familiarity with data lake solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Redshift, Snowflake).
Knowledge of machine learning techniques is a plus.
