Laser Engineer – Counter-Drone Systems

Location: Hyderabad

Experience: 3–5 Years


The Laser Engineer – Counter-Drone Systems will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of laser-based technologies used in the detection, tracking, and neutralization of unmanned aerial threats. With 3–5 years of experience in defence and aerospace applications, the candidate will contribute to the advancement of directed energy systems, including high-energy lasers (HEL), laser rangefinders, and target illumination modules.

This role requires a strong foundation in laser physics, optics, and electro-optical systems, along with hands-on experience in system integration and field testing. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that laser subsystems meet operational requirements, safety standards, and performance benchmarks in real-world defence scenarios.


Accountabilities and KPIs

1. Laser System Design & Development

• Design and develop laser subsystems including high-energy lasers (HEL), laser rangefinders, and beam control systems

• Select and integrate optical components such as lenses, mirrors, beam expanders, and cooling systems


2. System Integration & Testing

• Integrate laser modules with tracking systems, sensors, and countermeasure platforms

• Conduct lab and field testing to validate performance under operational conditions


3. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with laser safety standards

• Implement interlocks, shielding, and fail-safe mechanisms in system design


4. Technical Documentation

• Prepare detailed design documents, test reports, and user manuals

• Maintain version-controlled records of design iterations and test outcomes


5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work with software, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration

• Support customer demonstrations, field trials, and technical evaluations
