Chief Data Engineer

Customer Engineer RoleThe primary responsibility of this position is to serve as the technical point of contact for our customers. As a trusted partner, you will work closely with various teams internally and externally to deliver on complex customer use cases.This role requires a strong understanding of data engineering principles and experience in managing large datasets. You should be proficient in SQL, scripting languages (e.g., Python), and cloud-based systems (AWS). Additionally, you must have a solid grasp of RESTful APIs and experience setting up ETL processes.A successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to explain complex technical issues to both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders. Experience with Agile development methodologies and proficiency in tools like Asana, Jira, or Smartsheet are highly desirable.Key Responsibilities:Data Engineering Expertise: Work hands-on with our CDP platform and supporting components to implement data pipelines and integrations.Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with Solution Architects, Solution Consultants, Engagement Managers, and Product Engineers to deliver on complex customer use cases.Technical Leadership: Act as the primary technical contact and trusted advisor for customers along with the Solution Architect.Mentorship and Coaching: Coach and mentor junior engineers on the team.Workflow Design: Design and configure workflows based on client business needs using SQL, Python, and cloud infrastructure.Data Modeling: Build data models that support personalization, lookalike modeling, and omnichannel activation.ETL Pipelines: Set up ETL pipelines across disparate sources and create unified customer views.Product Configuration: Configure our product features and external data connections (APIs, S3, etc.).Documentation: Produce detailed technical documentation.Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and resolve blockers to ensure project timelines are met.Feedback Mechanism: Serve as a source of feedback for our product team, full stack, and backend engineering teams.Qualifications:Educational Background: BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, or similar.Professional Experience: 6+ years of experience in a customer-facing SaaS solution implementation involving managing and manipulating large datasets.Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, troubleshooting large-scale relational datasets, scripting (e.g., Python), and working with cloud-based systems (AWS preferred).API Knowledge: Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, including usage through Postman or cURL.ETL Experience: Experience setting up ETL processes and integrating disparate data sources.Data Modelling: Working knowledge of data modeling and customer data infrastructure (CDP, CRM, DMP, etc.) and experience in data exploration.Cloud Data Warehouses: Experience with APIs and basic familiarity with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift) and deployment best practices.Project Management: Strong mindset of independent ownership of a deliverable end-to-end. Ability to raise risks, prioritize, estimate time and effort, advise non-technical stakeholders on dependencies.Customer-Facing: Strong customer-facing verbal and written communication skills in English.Complex Problem Solving: Ability to explain complex technical problems to both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders.SDLC Methodologies: Proficiency in typical SDLC methodologies; hands-on experience in Agile development.Agile Tools: Proficiency in tools like Asana, Jira, Smartsheet, etc.Data-Driven Mindset: Customer-first and data-obsessed mindset.Lifelong Learning: Passion for learning and preferably hands-on experience with agentic AI solutions, including prompt engineering and context design.What We Offer:We offer a dynamic work environment where innovation and creativity thrive.
