Job SummaryMortgage underwriters are responsible for reviewing loan files to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and client guidelines.Key responsibilities include:Maintaining a working knowledge of US Mortgage Originations, closing procedures, federal and state lending laws.Ensuring sound understanding of the 4C's of underwriting.Experience in end-to-end underwriting of Conventional loans.Proficiency in Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector (LP).Familiarity with Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac Guidelines.The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and decision-making abilities.Responsibilities also include:Reviewing loan file for compliance with all regulatory and client's guidelines/overlays.Analyzing income & employment, credit strength, capacity to repay, property appraisal, title report; calculating and analyzing LTV/CLTV/HCLTV/DTI/HTI, checking all other information relevant to the credit decision process on each mortgage application.Calculating all types of income (Wage earner/self-employment/Other income etc.).Identifying and addressing red flags during the credit decision process.Assessing risk involved in approving a loan to determine whether it is acceptable to the lender.Audit the file from a closing & compliance standpoint on daily basis and note any exceptions.We offer a competitive compensation package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
