Role Description:Greenplum database administrator (DBA) is part of core DBA Operations team and primarilyresponsible for providing day to day Greenplum DBA supportSome of the day-to-day activities are: Greenplum software installation, patch upgrades, performancemonitoring, change implementation, performance tuning, backup and recovery, user maintenance,new database setup, educating users, troubleshooting user issues.Greenplum DBA is responsible for coordinating all hardware changes with respective Infrastructureteams and performing software changes/patch upgrades/DB upgrades.Responsibilities· Maintain excellent knowledge of Greenplum/PostgreSQL architecture and databasemaintenance· Hands-on experience with Greenplum / PostgreSQL database V6.X· Monitor data distribution and identify data skew· Monitor vacuum and analyze needed on objects· Design resource queues to prioritize multiple workloads· Manage and recover segments during segment crashes· Manage GP backup using DD Boost/commvault and restore· Perform POCs on various restore methodologies· Manage database and client host connectivity using pg_hba.conf· Proficient with gpfdist for data loading· Automate DBA tasks using excellent shell and SQL skills· Provide support for postgres to support Greenplum database· Assist application developer teams in design and performance tuning· Establish and advise users on database-specific best practicesRequired Skills & Experience§ Greenplum DBA admin with 3-6 years of experience.§ Performance Tuning§ Greenplum Core Expertise§ Database Maintenance§ Monitoring§ Business Solutions
