About the Role:

Mercor is seeking exceptional Software Developers with a strong background in Python and a passion for open-source contributions to join an exciting project with a leading AI Lab.

In this role, you will collaborate directly with world-class researchers and developers on a groundbreaking initiative that pushes the boundaries of AI-driven development processes. The work you do will have a direct impact on cutting-edge research and innovation in the AI and software engineering domains.

The ideal candidate is deeply familiar with Python, experienced in navigating large codebases, and has actively participated in or maintained popular open-source repositories.


Project Duration: This is an ongoing project which is currently in the process of scaling up and we expect an initial duration of at least 2-3 months

This role would be on a freelance / contractual basis.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Strong experience working with large Python codebases.
  • Proven track record as an open-source contributor in popular Python repositories.
  • Experience as an open-source maintainer is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with code review processes.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and pull request workflows.
  • Excellent understanding of Python coding standards and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills for effective collaboration and feedback.


Compensation:

  • This role will pay $14-$20/hr
