Title: Plastic product/component design engineer- Medical Devices


Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Plastic Engineer specializing in product /component design to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in plastic products and component design, particularly within the medical device industry. Proficiency in working with medical-grade plastic materials is highly desirable. Additionally, experience in designing and implementing passive assembly methods for plastic instruments, such as snap fit mechanisms, is a significant advantage.


Responsibilities:

Injection Molding knowledge: Lead the injection molding process from conception to production, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective manufacturing solutions.

Material Knowledge: Demonstrate expertise in medical-grade plastic materials, including their properties, compatibility, and regulatory requirements.

Design for Manufacturability: Collaborate with design teams to develop products that are optimized for injection molding, considering factors such as draft angles, wall thickness, and part geometry.

Passive Assembly Solutions: Design and implement passive assembly methods for plastic components, with a focus on snap fit mechanisms to eliminate the need for traditional fastening methods like screws.

Documentation and Compliance: Maintain thorough documentation of processes, designs, and testing results, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA guidelines).


Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Polymer Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Extensive experience (5+ years) in plastic injection molding, preferably within the medical device industry.

In-depth knowledge of medical-grade plastic materials and their applications.

Proven track record of designing and implementing passive assembly solutions for plastic components, including snap fit mechanisms.

Strong understanding of design for manufacturability principles and experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).


Requirement: - Diploma with 3-5 years or Degree with 2-4 years in plastic parts and enclosure design experience.


Location: Meril Healthcare Pvt. Ltd, IIT research park, Chennai.


Shift: General shift, Monday to Saturday (9.00 am to 5.30 pm).
