Job Summary:

MTOR Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to oversee and drive growth within our Academia Segment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building and managing relationships with academic institutions, research centers, and universities to promote our life sciences solutions, ensuring MTOR remains a preferred partner within the academic community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Strategy & Research:
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape within the academia segment.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales and business development plans targeting academic institutions.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to design and execute marketing campaigns tailored to the academia market.
  • Client Engagement & Relationship Building:
  • Identify, engage, and establish relationships with key decision-makers in universities, research institutions, and other academic bodies.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings, presentations, and product demos to showcase MTOR’s offerings.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service, addressing client queries promptly and efficiently.
  • Sales Target Achievement:
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets by actively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities and ensure consistent follow-ups.
  • Prepare and present regular sales forecasts, status reports, and business development metrics.
  • Product Knowledge & Technical Support:
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MTOR’s product portfolio, particularly products and solutions relevant to the academia segment.
  • Collaborate with the technical support team to provide product training, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops for academic customers.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, assisting clients in selecting the most appropriate products for their research needs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with internal teams, including product management, marketing, and customer support, to ensure alignment in meeting client requirements.
  • Provide feedback to product and marketing teams based on customer interactions and market insights.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions and sales activities in the CRM system.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management on sales performance and market trends.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or related field. MBA or equivalent qualification in Business/Marketing is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within the life sciences industry, preferably in the academia segment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of life sciences products, laboratory equipment, and research workflows is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to present and influence key stakeholders.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities to assess market trends, customer requirements, and competitive activities.
  • CRM Proficiency: Proficiency in using CRM software for managing leads, tracking progress, and generating reports.
  • Location & Travel: Willingness to travel extensively to meet clients, attend conferences, and visit academic institutions across designated regions.
