Medical Authorization Specialist

Job Description:We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Prior Authorizations Coordinator to join our team.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in providing excellent customer service, with effective communication skills and the ability to establish long-term professional relationships.The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing patient medical records to determine the necessity of prior authorizations for various procedures and treatments.They will also communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to gather required information and submit authorization requests.Additionally, they will maintain accurate documentation of all authorization requests, approvals, and denials in compliance with HIPAA regulations.The Prior Authorizations Coordinator will work closely with medical office staff to ensure seamless patient care and efficient processing of authorizations.Key Responsibilities:Review and analyze patient medical records to determine the necessity of prior authorizations.Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to gather required information and submit authorization requests.Maintain accurate documentation of all authorization requests, approvals, and denials.Follow up on pending authorizations and resolve any issues that may arise during the approval process.Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, managed care requirements, and relevant medical coding practices.Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure seamless patient care and efficient processing of authorizations.Educate patients on the prior authorization process and necessary steps they need to take.Process sleep authorizations for sleep studies in-lab and home sleep studies, as well as sleep consultations and appeals.Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.Excellent customer service and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Benefits:We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan.Our team is passionate about delivering exceptional results and making a positive impact on our patients' lives.
