Taxation Expert : Direct & Indirect Tax : Roles & Responsibilities
Work closely with the Finance & Tax head to support, coordinate and manage the tax positions of the India legal entities in compliance with legislation and corporate guidelines and to safeguard the Company from financial risks and claims.
Direct Tax
· Support the wider team in the corporate tax compliances and reporting requirements for India – including corporate tax returns, Withholding Tax compliance process, tax payment calculations, tax forecasts, deferred tax calculations, and technical analysis supporting audit issues. It will also include oversight and coordination of compliance activities outsourced to external service providers.
· Manage the direct tax audits and controversial matters in India.
· Manage the other compliances like the quarterly computation and payment of advance taxes, applicable TDS on inter-company payments etc.
· Work with the global tax team to implement strategic goals, tax initiatives and policies and regular reporting through internal tools.
· Establish a strong relationship with Indian businesses, finance, legal and policy leaders to share tax views and information.
· Review Transfer Pricing Reports prepared by the external service provider and ensure transfer pricing obligations are fulfilled under local transfer pricing laws and regulations.
· Support and assist with the quarterly tax accounting and reporting. This includes the calculation and tracking of quarterly/year-end transfer pricing corrections, direct tax exposures and Uncertain Tax Positions.
Indirect Tax
· Ensure full compliance in terms of monthly GST payments, and return filings.
· Provide necessary responses to queries raised by statutory departments related to indirect taxation in an appropriate and timely manner.
· Assist senior management to ensure timely action is taken on appeals and pursue effective resolution, compilation and spread work for the same.
· Assist senior management in liaising with lawyers and coordinating to ensure that the company is appropriately represented before statutory bodies and courts. Assist senior management in submission of replies to all queries raised by the department Implement an effective documentation system for maintaining documents related to return filings, replies, litigations etc., and ensure that the documents are easily retrievable.
· Manage the performance of the team and ensure that the team is working in line with the organizational value system.
Minimum Qualifications:
· CA / CMA / MBA / B.Com.
· A minimum of 5 years of relevant tax experience.
· Broad tax experience including Tax Advisory, Transfer Pricing, Corporate Tax, Withholding Tax and Goods and Services.
· Tax compliance and tax controversy.
· Experience in Tax Audit Management in India.
· Strong communication skills and ability to simplify and communicate complex business/ tax information.
· Proficient with Excel and Word.
