Job OverviewAs a Vector Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our vector database environments. This includes monitoring health, performance, and availability, as well as implementing backup and restore strategies for disaster recovery and operational continuity.Key Responsibilities:Administer Vector Database environments in production, ensuring optimal performance, security, and compliance with internal and external data governance policies.Implement backup and restore strategies to ensure business continuity in case of disasters or system failures.Support ingestion and indexing of vector data for RAG applications, optimizing storage and query performance using Storage Attached Indexing and vector search capabilities.Collaborate with data engineering teams to design and maintain schemas and collections, ensuring seamless integration with other systems.Ensure database security through role-based access control, encryption, and audit logging, maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.Automate operational tasks using Astra APIs and CI/CD pipelines, integrating Astra DB with AI platforms and developer tools for enhanced productivity.Provide production support, including incident response and root cause analysis, collaborating with DataStax support and stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.RequirementsQualifications:Proven experience as a DBA in production environments with NoSQL or distributed databases, with a strong understanding of database security, performance tuning, and monitoring.Hands-on experience with DataStax Astra DB, especially vector database features, with proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation and data operations.Familiarity with GenAI use cases, semantic search, and vector embeddings, as well as cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and multi-region deployments.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes.
