Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in AutoCAD, machining and fabrication processes, and designing equipment for the food and pharmaceutical industries. The ideal candidate will possess medium to senior-level experience, with a solid understanding of hygienic design principles, materials selection, and regulatory compliance (FDA, GMP, etc.). You will play a key role in the design, development, and improvement of processing equipment and mechanical systems used in sanitary manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using AutoCAD and SolidWorks (or similar CAD software).
- Create detailed fabrication and machining drawings in compliance with industry and company standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, QA, and procurement to ensure designs meet cost, performance, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure mechanical designs align with hygienic and sanitary design standards for food and pharmaceutical applications (e.g., FDA, 3-A, EHEDG).
- Oversee or support fabrication and assembly processes, including material selection (stainless steel, plastics, etc.) and welding specifications.
- Lead or contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including design optimization and cost reduction.
- Conduct tolerance stack-ups, stress analyses, and fit/function evaluations.
- Support installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment on customer sites as required.
- Maintain documentation including BOMs, specifications, and change orders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred for senior-level).
- 5–10 years of experience in mechanical design, with at least 3 years focused on fabrication and machining.
- Proven experience in food and/or pharmaceutical equipment design and manufacturing.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and at least one 3D CAD tool (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Strong understanding of fabrication techniques (CNC machining, sheet metal, TIG welding, etc.).
- Familiarity with sanitary design standards and compliance requirements (GMP, FDA, 3-A, etc.).
- Experience with ERP systems and engineering change processes is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of automation and integration with mechanical systems.
- Experience in FEA or CFD analysis tools.
- Familiarity with P&IDs and process equipment layouts.
- Field experience with equipment installation and troubleshooting.
