Their responsibility extends beyond just delivering packages—they represent the brand, ensure customer satisfaction, and contribute to the smooth functioning of last-mile logistics. The job requires responsibility, punctuality, good communication, and basic technical skills to handle delivery apps and GPS-enabled devices. Delivery agents are often the “face of the company” as they are the only direct human interaction many customers have with an e-commerce platform.Key Responsibilities Package Pickup and Handling Collect parcels from warehouses, distribution centers, or local hubs. Handle packages carefully to avoid damage during transportation. Verify parcel details such as order number, customer name, and address before dispatch. Delivery of Orders Deliver products to customers across assigned routes within the scheduled time. Ensure timely delivery while following traffic rules and safety measures. Obtain proof of delivery (signature, OTP, or digital confirmation via mobile app). Customer Interaction Communicate politely and professionally with customers during delivery. Answer basic customer queries about orders, return pick-ups, or replacements. Handle cash-on-delivery (COD) payments securely and provide receipts when required. Returns and Reverse Logistics Collect return packages or replacement items as per company guidelines. Ensure that returns are recorded properly in the system and handed over to the warehouse. Use of Technology Use delivery apps or handheld devices provided by e-commerce companies to track and update delivery status. Follow GPS-enabled maps for efficient routing and navigation. Update order details in real time after successful delivery or failed attempt. Reporting and Documentation Maintain accurate records of deliveries, payments collected, and returns. Report any issues such as incorrect addresses, damaged products, or unsuccessful deliveries to the supervisor. Submit daily reports on the number of deliveries completed and pending. Safety and Compliance Adhere to company policies regarding package handling and delivery. Ensure safe driving and compliance with traffic rules. Follow hygiene and safety protocols, especially during customer interactions. Required Skills Driving Skills Ability to ride a two-wheeler (bike/scooter) or drive a light commercial vehicle (if required). Possession of a valid driving license and knowledge of traffic rules. Time Management Ability to manage multiple deliveries in a day within strict timelines. Prioritizing urgent deliveries while covering the assigned route efficiently. Communication Skills Basic verbal communication in local language (and Hindi/English if needed). Ability to interact politely and professionally with customers. Technical Skills Familiarity with smartphones and delivery apps. Ability to use GPS, digital payment tools, and OTP verification systems. Customer Service Orientation Positive attitude and willingness to assist customers. Handling minor issues such as order mismatches or return requests calmly. Physical Fitness Capability to lift and carry packages (ranging from small parcels to medium-weight boxes). Stamina to work in outdoor conditions and complete multiple deliveries daily.
