Job Overview A Cybersecurity Professional is responsible for protecting an organization’s digital infrastructure, systems, and data from cyber threats such as malware, phishing, hacking, ransomware, and data breaches. The role involves designing security architectures, monitoring networks, detecting vulnerabilities, implementing defense mechanisms, and ensuring compliance with security policies and regulations. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in network security, risk management, threat detection, incident response, and security audits. A deep understanding of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption protocols, and regulatory compliance frameworks is essential. Key Responsibilities A. Network & System Security Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures to protect organizational data. Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions. Regularly monitor networks for suspicious activity and potential threats. Patch security vulnerabilities and ensure systems are up to date. B. Threat Detection & Incident Response Identify, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity incidents in real time. Investigate security breaches and conduct root cause analyses. Develop and implement incident response plans to minimize damage. Coordinate with internal teams and third-party security vendors to resolve incidents effectively. C. Risk Management & Compliance Assess organizational systems to identify risks and vulnerabilities. Implement security controls in compliance with regulatory frameworks such as: GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and SOC 2. Prepare detailed risk assessment reports and recommend mitigation measures. Ensure adherence to internal IT security policies and government regulations. D. Security Monitoring & Analysis Use SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools to monitor and analyze network traffic. Detect anomalies, suspicious patterns, and potential intrusion attempts. Create regular security dashboards and incident reports for management review. Implement penetration testing and vulnerability assessments to strengthen defenses. E. Data Protection & Access Control Establish and enforce data access policies to protect sensitive information. Implement encryption standards for data at rest and in transit. Ensure robust identity and access management (IAM) systems are in place. Educate employees on cyber hygiene and data security best practices. F. Collaboration & Training Work closely with IT, DevOps, and cloud teams to ensure secure infrastructure deployment. Conduct regular employee awareness programs on phishing, malware, and ransomware prevention. Partner with vendors, law enforcement, and security organizations to stay ahead of evolving threats. Required Skills & Competencies Technical Skills Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, tools, and technologies. Expertise in firewalls, antivirus, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection systems. Hands-on experience with ethical hacking, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning. Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash for security automation. Understanding of cloud security (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipeline security. Soft Skills Analytical Mindset – Ability to detect and analyze security threats proactively. Problem-Solving – Quick decision-making during critical security incidents. Communication Skills – Effectively convey security concerns to non-technical stakeholders. Team Collaboration – Work closely with IT, management, and external vendors. Adaptability – Stay updated with evolving cybersecurity trends and attack vectors. Eligibility Criteria Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related fields. Master’s degree in Cybersecurity is an advantage. Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or IT security roles. Experience in threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management is preferred.
