The Portal & Automation Experience team is seeking a skilled Front-End UI Developer passionate about creating exceptional user experiences through modern web development standards. You'll be responsible for building intuitive, accessible, and performant user interfaces that deliver innovative solutions to our customers.

- The Portal & Automation Experience team at Rackspace Technology focuses on three key areas:
- Customer-facing platforms - Building foundational user experiences including ticketing, user management, and account management interfaces
- Enablement services - Creating innovative tools and component libraries that accelerate other engineering teams development cycles
- Multi-cloud applications - Developing user interfaces that simplify complex cloud management tasks
- We serve as the primary interaction point between customers and Rackspace Technology's comprehensive product portfolio, making intuitive design and seamless user experience our top priorities.

Key Responsibilities

- UI Development & Design Implementation
- Develop responsive, accessible user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks
- Translate design mockups and wireframes into pixel-perfect, interactive web applications
- Implement and maintain design systems, component libraries, and style guides
- Optimize applications for maximum performance across devices and browsers
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive design principles

- Collaboration & Quality
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to refine and improve user experiences
- Work with backend developers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless data flow
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical feasibility input
- Write comprehensive unit tests and participate in code reviews
- Contribute to accessibility audits and improvements

- Technical Leadership
- Research and recommend modern front-end tools, frameworks, and best practices
- Mentor junior developers on front-end development techniques and UI best practices
- Contribute to technical documentation and coding standards
- Participate in architectural decisions for front-end applications

Required Qualifications

- Experience
- 7+ years of professional front-end development experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular)
- 3+ years of experience with modern CSS methodologies (CSS-in-JS, CSS Modules, Sass/SCSS)
- Experience with responsive design and mobile-first development approaches

- Technical Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Strong understanding of React ecosystem (hooks, context, state management)
- Experience with build tools and bundlers (Webpack, Vite, or similar)
- Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and inclusive design principles
- Understanding of performance optimization techniques and Core Web Vitals

- Design & UX Skills
- Strong eye for visual design and attention to detail
- Experience working with design systems and component-driven development
- Understanding of user experience principles and usability best practices
- Ability to collaborate effectively with designers using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD

- Soft Skills
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working in agile development environments
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

- Advanced Technical Skills
- Experience with TypeScript in production applications
- Knowledge of state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, or similar)
- Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)
- Familiarity with and full-stack JavaScript development
- Experience with CSS preprocessors and PostCSS

- Cloud & DevOps
- AWS services experience, particularly for front-end deployment (S3, CloudFront, Lambda@Edge)
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of CDN optimization and edge computing concepts

- Modern Development Practices
- Experience with micro-frontends architecture
- Knowledge of Progressive Web App (PWA) development
- Experience with design tokens and CSS-in-JS solutions
- Understanding of JAMstack architecture and static site generation
- Experience with GraphQL and modern API integration patterns

- Design & Collaboration Tools
- Experience with design handoff tools and workflows
- Knowledge of design system development and maintenance
- Experience with user research and usability testing methodologies
