Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer - Marketplace to join our growing team. In this role you'll build and enhance the front-end of our marketplace initiative, helping enable e-commerce features for internal products and (in future) third-party integrations. You'll partner with cross-functional teams (backend, UX/design, product, QA), own significant frontend workstreams, and help ensure high quality, performance, and consistency.

What You'll Do

- Frontend Design & Implementation
- Define, build, and maintain React-based UI components and pages. Deliver high-quality, reusable, maintainable code. Translate UX designs into responsive, accessible interfaces.
- API Integration & Data Management
- Work closely with backend engineers to consume RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs. Handle data fetching, error states, loading, state management, caching, etc.
- Performance, Reliability & Optimizations
- Monitor and tune frontend performance (load times, render performance, interactivity). Apply optimizations: code splitting, lazy loading, memoization, and image optimization. Ensure the app works smoothly across devices and browsers.
- Marketplace / E-commerce Flows
- Deliver features around browsing, managing SKUs, checkout, cart, subscriptions, authentication, and payments. Ensure these workflows are secure, user-friendly, and performant.
- Technical Ownership & Best Practices
- Contribute to frontend architecture, define state management patterns (Redux, Context API, etc.), and component libraries/design systems. Write tests (unit, integration, UI/e2e), enforce code quality, accessibility, responsive design, and adherence to best practices.
- Collaboration & Mentorship
- Mentor and support junior/mid-level frontend developers. Participate in code reviews. Align with product managers, designers, QA, backend/infrastructure on priorities, deliverables, and technical tradeoffs.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Ensure alignment across teams (Backend, DevOps, Design, Product) on deployment, environments, CI/CD, and observability. Gather requirements and feedback from stakeholders and users to inform UX improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3-5+ years of experience in frontend or full-stack development, with a strong focus on React (or comparable modern front-end framework).
- Solid understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3 build tools such as Webpack, Babel, or equivalent.
- Experience with state management (Redux, MobX, Context API, or similar).
- Experience building or contributing to e-commerce/marketplace UIs: checkout flows, authentication, product listings, cart/subscriptions.
- Strong skills in optimizing frontend performance, diagnosing, and fixing bottlenecks.
- Familiarity with responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility (WCAG) best practices.
- Good testing mindset: unit/integration/e2e testing experience ability to write clean, testable code.
- Good communication and collaboration skills ability to work with product, design, backend, QA ability to make trade-offs.

Preferred Qualifications

- Proficiency in TypeScript.
- Experience with GraphQL in frontend data fetching.
- Experience implementing or maintaining design systems or component libraries.
- Knowledge of observability/monitoring tools for front-end performance (real-user monitoring, logging, error tracking).
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices for frontend experience working in cloud environments, scalable product contexts.

- Marketplace-related features delivered on time, with high user satisfaction and few bugs.
- Frontend codebase remains maintainable - good modularity, consistent code patterns, low technical debt.
- Performance metrics (page load, time-to-interactive, responsiveness) are performant and improving.
- Positive feedback from UX, Design, Product, and QA on quality, consistency, and user experience.
- You contribute to raising the bar on frontend engineering in the team - through mentoring, code reviews, and taking ownership.
