Overview Your role collaborates on the regional strategy for behavior accountability management, such as resolving conflicts, disputes and election disputes; preventing and addressing club and district governance issues; preventing and addressing adult harassment; compliance with Rotary policy, and development of local resources (volunteers and materials). Your role also supports Rotary's commitment to providing safe, enriching experiences for youths who participate in secretariat, member, and participant-led activities, events, programs, and projects. This includes collaborating with staff, volunteers, and participants on Rotary's commitment to youth safeguarding (proactively creating a culture of safety) and youth protection matters (reacting with transparency, compassion, and confidence when concerns arise). You serve as a subject matter expert, and respond to allegations with transparency, compassion, and confidence when concerns arise. You regularly consult with your manager and the Youth Safeguarding Global Manager for oversight of youth safety education, issue prevention and protection. Important to note: You will be required to interact with sensitive reports, including those involving allegations of inappropriate member conduct, including child sexual abuse. You Will Have - Required: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), with multicultural, international experience. - Required: Certification or proven expertise in one or more areas of Conflict Resolution, Crisis Counseling, Mediation, Negotiation, Youth Protection, Social Work, and/or Change Management - A minimum of five years experience required, preferably in volunteer management. - Minimum of three years experience in youth safeguarding or youth counseling. - Ability to manage confidential issues with discretion and professionalism - Proven ability to analyze and resolve conflicts with diplomacy, tact, and cultural sensitivity - Ability to effectively communicate and facilities learning and inspire others - Excellence in verbal and written skills with a global, multicultural audience - Proficiency in English and a second language preferred, especially Chinese, Japanese or Korea. You Are Good At - Reading, analyzing, and responding to sensitive reports of misconduct allegations with confidence, transparency, and compassion. - Communicating verbally, interpersonally, and in writing with colleagues, senior volunteers, and other external contacts to perform tasks and manage projects. - Managing multiple concurrent projects alongside routine tasks to accomplish team and organization-wide initiatives. - Working autonomously with direction from management and independently make decisions aligned within strategic organizational approach and regional strategies - Collaborating with others, finding solutions, and making decisions - Maintaining autonomy, independence, and accountability for individual work. - Accomplishing tasks with minimal supervision. - Showing attention to detail and accuracy. - Taking initiative and demonstrating innovation through thoughtful process improvement. - Providing excellent service to internal/external contacts. - Working in a volunteer-led organization. - Adapting to a changing environment. You Will Be Responsible For STRATEGY - Implement organizational risk management strategies for behavior accountability management and youth protection and safeguarding. - Identify issue trends to maintain relevancy with the regional and global strategy for behavior accountability management. Volunteer Support & Resource Development - Support issue resolution in your region for the following: poor member behavior, member misconduct, DRFC appointment conflicts, election complaints, escalated and/or non-standard issues (long-standing and/or multi-team intersections, single-gender club issues, and clubs placed into non-districted status for governance reasons), and youth safeguarding. - Support resolution of conflicts in your region related to member policy compliance: Annual Statement & Report of District Finances, Member Code of Conduct, DG Funding Audit, DG Funding Signatory Verification, DG/DGE/DGN/PDG removal for cause, district incorporation, DRFC appointments, DRFC Audit, PDGs on the Individuals with Outstanding Financial Obligations list, IRS guidance for US based clubs, member alerts, youth safeguarding, and prohibited members - Respond to and support club, district, and other volunteers with high-touch support for allegations or concerns regarding member misconduct. - Receive reports of sensitive youth safeguarding concerns from club and district-level youth program volunteers globally and facilitate confidential correspondence to resolve concerns, identify root causes, and address opportunities for continued improvement - Conduct in-depth reviews proactively and following reports of allegations or concerns to identify strengths, areas of improvement and support volunteers to identify root causes, implement additional safeguards, and support improved outcomes for participants and volunteers - Collaborate in the development of regionalized communications, digital and print publications, online learning opportunities, webinars, presentations, and virtual/in-person learning events for key staff stakeholders, participants, members and leaders, and other audiences that build skills and support volunteers ability to respond to allegations or concerns. - Represent Rotary at both member and other public events as assigned. - Other duties may include providing high-touch customer service over the phone, via email, and in person as needed for issue resolution, team initiatives, and special projects. - Domestic and international travel to resolve conflicts, participate in global events, lead or participate in learning events and to build relationships Expertise & Internal Collaboration - Serve as a highly independent staff expert who is individually accountable for maintaining and enforcing Rotary's youth safeguarding policies and procedures around developing safe environments, proactively managing risk when working with youth, and responding to allegations or suspicions of youth abuse/harassment. - Provide consultation to key international colleagues and member/participant volunteer constituents at varying leadership levels across several time zones around safeguarding strategies and responding to concerns raised when working youth in Rotary activities and events outside of structured youth programs. - Monitor and evaluate industry best practices and advise on policy, process, and resources improvements to support Rotary's ability to adapt to changing needs - Work closely with the Youth Safeguarding Global Manager RI Programs, Global Communications, Legal Services, Learning & Development, Risk Management, Media Relations, Membership Growth & Experience, and other teams as needed to enhance procedures and policy - Work collaboratively across staff teams to ensure policy compliance when working with youth in Rotary activities and events.
