Job Description Compliance: Trade Based Money Laundering- Team Lead - AVP INTERNAL USAGE: No. of Vacancies: Reports to: Head - TBML Is a Team leader No Team Size: Grade: Trade Based Money Laundering- Team Lead Business: Corporate Centre Department: Compliance Sub-Department: Location: Mumbai About Compliance The Compliance department assists the Board and Top Management in managing the compliance risk, that is, the risk of legal or regulatory sanctions, financial loss or reputational loss that the Bank may suffer as a result of its failure to comply with the applicable laws, regulations or code of conduct applicable to banking activities. It ensures strict observance of all statutory provisions in various legislations such as Banking Regulation Act, Foreign Exchange Management Act, Prevention of Money Laundering Act, Reserve Bank of India Act, etc. as well as the regulatory guidelines issued from time to time, the standards and codes prescribed by BCSBI, FEDAI, FIMMDA, etc. and also the Bank's internal policies and fair practice code AbouttheRole The AVP - TBML will be responsible for handling a team and ensure detecting, analysing, and mitigating trade-based money laundering risks by evaluating trade transactions, documents, and customer behaviour for red flags. The role demands a deep understanding of trade finance products, regulatory expectations, and typologies associated with TBML. This position also involves end-to-end investigation of suspicious patterns, scenario enhancement, and cross-functional coordination to ensure compliance with AML laws and institutional risk appetite. Key Responsibilities 1. TBML Monitoring & Investigation: .Review trade transactions and documentation (LCs, invoices, shipping documents, BRC/FIRC) for potential TBML risks. .Identify anomalies in pricing, routing, documentation, and parties involved in trade transactions. .Investigate suspicious trade activity and prepare detailed case summaries for STR consideration. 2. Scenario Enhancement & Risk Analytics: .Recommend improvements to TBML detection scenarios and rules. .Monitor effectiveness of existing controls and suggest changes based on emerging typologies. 3. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: .Ensure adherence to FIU-IND, FATF, and RBI guidelines related to TBML. .Contribute to preparation of regulatory reports, STRs, and internal risk escalations. 4. Cross-Functional Coordination: .Collaborate with Trade Finance, Compliance, Operations and Risk teams for resolution and root cause analysis on any anomalies observed. .Participate in internal training sessions related to TBML awareness. 5. Training & Awareness: .Conduct awareness sessions and refresher training on TBML red flags for Internal AML, front-line and trade operations staff. .Stay updated on the latest TBML trends, global advisories, and regulatory expectations. Qualifications Optimal qualification for success on the job is: .MBA / Postgraduate with Banking background. .AML Related Course/ Programme Certification is desirable. Role Proficiencies: .Strong understanding of trade finance products (LCs, bank guarantees, bills discounting, remittances). .Sound knowledge of TBML typologies, red flags, and FATF recommendations. .Analytical mindset with experience in transaction monitoring and dispositioning.
